Contact with the west of Illithiust is limited. There’s certainly plenty west of the Hendark Mountains, maps have been found showing a western coastline and even the Carotark Desert. However, not since the last Cycle have East and West met. There are people out there that survived into this Cycle.  The Bard Keto’s discussions with the Last Landian confirm this, as the Last Landian speaks of interactions with Hunai and Aenesi before trekking here to the East. This one had hoped that a review of the Fey Crossroads would find a path leading there but all paths through those portals seemed severed.

No, it seems the only way to go West is the long way and the only ones who currently make that trek are the nomads of the Finnupave Plains. Mostly Hunai and riding large fur covered creatures, the nomads traverse the wide expanses of the central plains of Illithiust, following the animal herds that are their life source and foraging off the land along the way. In their own small cycle, the Finnupavian Nomads follow the herds east towards the mountains in the Spring and make their camp there as the herds retire to the mountains to give birth and raise their young. Come summer the animals move westward and so do the nomads.

What these nomads do in the interim has varied over the years. They are a tribal community and stories range from the nomads setting up temporary towns, ones open to trade and talk, to years where the tribes united under a strong leader have raided up and down the eastern coasts. They are their own fickle story, like nature itself some years bringing gifts and harmony and others destruction. This uncertainty has led to the Provinces sending out emissaries each year. The simple return of these emissaries is a good sign that the nomad’s will bring peace and trade. The years when the emissaries do not return are portends of violence and a call to strengthen the soldiers of Koric.

The emissaries this year returned but with a strange portend. A demand for the Last Landian be turned over to them.
